Cabinet expressed concern about the ongoing public sector strike and the negative effect it was having on public services.

President's call produces a draft settlement offer at the Public Service Coordinating Bargaining Council (PSCBC)
Pretoria – The process of consultation with the leadership of Trade Union Federations has produced a draft settlement offer for the current salary negotiations.

Government appeals to the public service unions to return to the Bargaining Chamber
Following a meeting between the President and Ministers over the weekend, Government has responded to the President’s directive by calling for urgent talks with union representatives to find a solution that would bring the strike to an end as soon as possible.

Hotline to ensure access to chronic medication
Pretoria – A call centre has been established by the national Department of Health to provide assistance to patients who are on chronic medication and are encountering difficulties accessing their treatment during the ongoing public service strike.

Government calls for calm
Government is extremely concerned about the inflammatory nature of some statements by a number of role-players, including trade union leaders, on the public sector strike.
