Government’s media briefings for 17 - 23 Nov

Government wishes to advise members of the media about planned media briefings scheduled for the week of 17– 23 November 2014. 

On Tuesday, 18 November at 11:00am, Minister of Trade and Industry, Rob Davies will brief the media on progress regarding the implementation of Local Content Verification. Minister Davies will also issue the 1st South African Bureau of Standards (SABS) Local Content Verification Certificates in the Bus Manufacturing Sector. The certificates are awarded to companies that have achieved 80 percent threshold on locally manufactured component. The briefing will be held at Imbizo Media Centre, Cape Town with a link up to Tshedimosetso House (DOC), Pretoria.

On Wednesday, 19 November at 11:00am, Statistician General, Pali Lehohla, will brief the media about the results of the Annual Financial Statistics (AFS) Survey. The AFS survey collects a range of financial statistics in respect of enterprises in the formal business sector of the South African economy. The purpose of the AFS is to derive a set of measures of industry performance based on information available from the financial accounts of enterprises. The briefing will be held at Tshedimosetso House (DOC), Pretoria with a link up to Imbizo Media Centre, Cape Town.

Additional to these media briefings there are a number of public events that will be attended by the various Ministers.  The details of the events are posted on the respective government websites.

All members of the media are advised that the media briefings are subject to change. However, the Department of Communications (DOC) will continue to update the media through its advisories.
