Zukiswa (Zuki) Agnes Potye, was born in Cofimvaba in the Eastern Cape.

She began her career in 1992 at the age of 20, as clerk at a law firm in Mthatha, Eastern Cape. For a further eight years, she pursued a career in administration at institutions such as the University of Fort Hare, Vista University and Standard Bank of SA Ltd.

In 2001 Zuki was introduced to and developed a passion for project management. Between 2001 and 2004, she was Programme Coordinator: Planning and Performance Monitoring, at the National Electricity Regulator (now NERSA), where she coordinated development, and managed and monitored the implementation of strategic plans, business plans and projects for the entire organisation.

In May 2004, she joined Blue IQ as Manager: Monitoring and Evaluation. At Blue IQ, Zuki introduced and entrenched a culture of reporting on projects. She tracked, monitored and reported progress on Blue IQ’s eleven infrastructure projects, including the Gautrain, Kliptown Urban Regeneration, Newtown, the Innovation Hub, Dinokeng, the Cradle of Humankind and the Automotive Supplier Park projects.

Before joining GCIS, Zuki was with Transnet’s Group Communications, responsible for Corporate Affairs. Zuki won the 2003 CEO’s Award, an award that recognises those at the National Electricity Regulator who go beyond the call of duty in meeting the objectives of the organisation. Zuki holds an advanced and a postgraduate diploma in Project Management from Cranefield College of Project and Programme Management, and is currently working on a Masters Degree in Project Management, through the same institution.

Zukiswa Potye joined the GCIS as Chief Director: Project Desk, on 16 July 2007.
