Shadrack Semakane
Keitumetse Shadrack
Semakane was born at Mabeskraal, on 10 May 1956.
He attended Rakoko
High School at Mabeskraal in North West and matriculated in
1976.
In 1980, he obtained
a Junior Secondary Teachers Course (JSTC) from Batswana Teachers
Training College. Between 1981 and 1987, he obtained a BA
and B Ed from UNISA. Between 1993 and 1994, Keitu obtained
certificates in Basic Principles in Public Relations (with
distinction) and Public Relations Practice. In 1994, he completed
an M Ed at the University of Pochefstroom and in 2004, he successfully completed the senior Management Programme (with distinction) at the University of Pretoria.
Keitu has worked
as a temporary teacher from 1977 to 1978 and as teacher from
1981 to mid-1982. He became a lecturer of Educational Studies
at Hebron College of Education, between 1987 and 1992.
Keitu has vast experience
in the media environment. He worked for SABC as producer/translator
and announcer. He freelanced for Radio Mmabatho and Mmabatho
Television as news presenter.
Between 1992 and
1995, he worked as Public Relations Officer with the Department
of Education in North West. One of his duties was to determine
the internal and external communication policy of the department.
In 1995, he joined
GCIS Johannesburg Regional Office as Director: Communication,
a position he held for one year. In 1996, he moved to head
office as Director: Corporate Services until 1998. In 1999,
Keitu moved to the position of Director: Human Resources.
In 2002 he was promoted to Chief Director: Corporate Services.
He is married to
Mmamokgethi and they have three daughters, Orefemetse, Rebaneilwe and Realeboga and a son, Reotshepile.
