Biography of Babs Naidoo

Babs Naidoo was appointed Chief Director: Communication Service Agency from 1 August 2006.

He holds a BA (Honours) degree in Anthropology from the University of Natal (previously the University of Durban Westville).

Babs has extensive experience in the Public Service. He headed the GCIS East London office before joining the Department of Water Affairs and Forestry as Head of Communication in 1997. As head of marketing and communications, he provided strategic advice to the Minister, DG and department on communication and marketing issues.

He was seconded to the World Summit on Sustainable Development /Waterdome as project co-ordinator in 2002.

In 2002, Babs won the National Bua Award at the inaugural annual Government Communicator of the Year Awards. In the following year, he was a finalist in the National Bua Award category.

Babs joined GCIS following a stint as managing director of Simeka TWS.

He is married with one daughter.
